Project Pharmacy Manager

Responsible of all activities related to the pharmacy within the project/mission, in accordance with MSF’s rules and values, with the medical coordinator’s instructions and with the national and international legislation and regulations, he/she must:
  • Ensure the quality and good organization of the medical supply processes, procedures and protocols, the proper management of medical stocks of the projects and, in collaboration with the Medical Coordinator, the proper use of medication and medical equipment.
  • Support the Head of Mission and the Medical Coordinator with the representation and defense of MSF’s interests before the Ministry of Health and the local authorities, or the local suppliers, regarding questions about pharmaceutical supplies, in order to ensurethe projects’ stock supply, while respecting the national legislation and regulations as well as MSF’s protocols.
  • Ensure close monitoring of national medication supply, in particular for projects where MSF works in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
  • Support and participate in all medication and medical equipment supply processes,facilitate the appropriate stock management and the correct transport and storage proceduresin order to ensure the availability of all projects’ stock, avoiding surpluses and expirations as well as stock-outs and by ensuring the efficiency and rationalization of it all.
  • Ensure the proper keeping of all medication and pharmaceutical equipment. In close collaboration with the logistics department, supervise storage conditions, classification, organization and inventory.
  • Supervise the operation of all pharmacies within the project/mission, ensuring the proper implementation of MSF’s protocols, procedures and supply practices that should be respected by all staff.
  • Plan and supervise, in close collaboration with the HR department,the associated processes of staffunder his/her responsibility.
  • Report on the medication consumptionand medical equipment distributed according to protocols, by signaling anomalies.
Required profile:
  • Pharmacist Degree or Pharmacy Management Degree
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in hospital settings
  • French and/or English (bilingual and other languages are an asset)
  • Personal qualities such as team spirit, cooperation, flexibility, adaptability, diplomacy and organizational skills
  • Available for a mission of 6 to 12 months

Field Manager Tanzania

help2kids, a young and dynamic Swiss non profit organization, is looking for a Field Manager in Tanzania to supervise our projects.
help2kids is a young, dynamic organization located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city, which is situated on the Indian Ocean and in Lifuwu, a small village on Lake Malawi in Malawi. We help orphans by providing food, shelter, and lots of love at our children's home. We help the community by providing support to local primary and nursery schools.
We are running the following aid projects in Dar es Salaam (Mbezi Beach and Bunju area):
  • A children home for up to 35 children,
  • A primary school with up to 300 children,
  • A nursery school for up to 50 children, and
  • A health project serving over 500 children.

You will oversee and work in collaboration with the Programme Managers (for education and health) and interns in Tanzania. In addition, you will work in a team with the Field Manager in Malawi.

The job requires also to manage our website (such as blog), Facebook and to keep in touch with our followers by posting regularly (we have a marketing intern for these tasks but you should oversee these activities).

Duties and responsibilities

Selection Criteria

  • At least a Master’s degree in Communications sciences, international relations, economics and/or development studies, journalism, marketing/branding, or related fields.
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant communications experience – especially in the areas of editorial and media relations – ideally in similar roles in international development. 
  • At least five (5) years in a similarly demanding and complex management role. 
  • Proven record of achievements in development/project/knowledge communications, with a focus on results.
  • Thorough knowledge of international development issues; good knowledge of Africa and its social and economic challenges.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communications skills.
  • Languages: Written and spoken fluency in either French or English, with a very strong knowledge of the other language.
  • Proven leadership skills; proven ability to advise and manage high-volume and high-complexity communications programmes.

Community-Based Rehabilitation Coordinator

Pursuant to political unrest in Burundi, Tanzania has been welcoming a number of refugees who include people with special needs (PSNs), including older men and women, people with disabilities, those living with chronic medical conditions, single women living on their own, minorities such as Albinos, and other vulnerable groups. To ensure inclusion of this vulnerable population in humanitarian interventions, HelpAge International Tanzania is entering into a programme partnership to implement activities targeting the PSNs. HelpAge therefore intends to recruit a suitably skilled and experienced Community-Based Rehabilitation Coordinator. The successful candidate will implement and supervise a project providing access to care, protection and humanitarian assistance to these groups.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and/or public health. S/he will have considerable experience in community rehabilitation work, specifically working with PSNs and people with disabilities, and have sound programme management knowledge including coordinating multi-stakeholder interventions and representation, with focus on humanitarian programmes in emergencies and displacement contexts. The candidate should have the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, with the ability to influence, communicate and negotiate as well as facilitate capacity building and training, and monitor budgets. Experience in ageing issues and awareness of humanitarian core principles are highly desirable.

Required qualifications: Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years’ business experience, including experience in frontier markets, with possession of Masters in Business Administration an advantage. Candidates should possess the following:

About the Programme
A proposed DFID-funded urban jobs programme aimed at reducing poverty and vulnerability in Dar es Salaam, with a specific focus on women and youth. The programme has the potential to operate in market systems including, but not limited to, construction, water and sanitation, pre-primary education, ICT, tourism and waste management.
Role Description
The Intervention Manager will provide strategic leadership in market systems thinking and facilitation for the DFID funded Dar es Salaam Urban Jobs Programme.
In doing so, he/she will provide effective management and oversight across a portfolio of interventions within various market systems that are considered to have the most pro poor growth potential for Dar es Salaam.
The Intervention Manager will as part of a management team oversee and guide the design and implementation of proposed interventions, including developing and adapting results chains, driving staff and team learning and ensure performance of market system teams through the delivery of results. A strong private sector ethos is essential.
He/She, in close collaboration with other Intervention Managers and M&E Team, will oversee the research, identification and development of new business opportunities within targeted market systems.
Responsibilities will also include detailed analysis on value chains, supporting markets, and enabling environment issues in new business areas, as well as developing and managing partnerships with private sector businesses, government and representative associations.
Key tasks
The Intervention Manager, working directly with the Portfolio Director, will be responsible for:
     Identifying market opportunities with clear potential for reducing poverty in Dar es Salaam within the targeted sectors and that fit within the programme’s wider Portfolio Development Strategy;
     Leveraging technical expertise in business analysis and urban market systems to develop sector strategies in close collaboration with Business Analysts, other Intervention Managers, and the M&E team;
     Managing the subsequent implementation of sector strategies by brokering deals with private sector players and representative organisations; engaging with government and civil society partners; cultivating “system” champions, and pushing knowledge flows and learning within the selected market systems;
     Providing leadership and guidance to managers and officers in developing the theory of change and results chains guided by an market systems development framework;
     In collaboration with the Portfolio Director, supporting the development of intervention plans, activity plans, budgets, Term of Reference (TOR) for external resources identified, and other necessary intervention management documents as needed; and
     Support the preparation of material and presentations to promote the Programme.
Qualifications and experience
     MBA or equivalent Masters in Economics, Business Studies, Agribusiness and at least 5 years' experience working in value chains or market development programmes (experience in Dar es Salaam is a plus);
     Good team management experience and experience in supervising staff;
     Experience in developing and managing programs in the field of private sector development;
     Demonstrated experience in market system analysis and research, design of sector strategies, and the ability to broker deals and partnerships with the private sector, government and representative associations
     Ability to formulate results chains and undertake participatory research with experience in the DCED standard a plus;
     Excellent computer skills (minimum of MS word, excel and power point);
     Good report writing and presentation skills; and
     Be a team player, creative, and full of energy.
