Based in Tanzania with regular travel within the refugee camps
HelpAge International is a global network of not-for-profit
organisations with a vision of a world where older people fulfil their
potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives. With over
70 affiliates and 300 partners across more than 50 countries the
HelpAge network brings together hundreds of organisations worldwide.
Pursuant to political unrest in Burundi, Tanzania has been welcoming a
number of refugees who include people with special needs (PSNs),
including older men and women, people with disabilities, those living
with chronic medical conditions, single women living on their own,
minorities such as Albinos, and other vulnerable groups. To ensure
inclusion of this vulnerable population in humanitarian interventions,
HelpAge International Tanzania is entering into a programme partnership
to implement activities targeting the PSNs. HelpAge therefore intends to
recruit a suitably skilled and experienced Community-Based
Rehabilitation Coordinator. The successful candidate will implement and
supervise a project providing access to care, protection and
humanitarian assistance to these groups.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in physiotherapy, occupational
therapy and/or public health. S/he will have considerable experience in
community rehabilitation work, specifically working with PSNs and people
with disabilities, and have sound programme management knowledge
including coordinating multi-stakeholder interventions and
representation, with focus on humanitarian programmes in emergencies and
displacement contexts. The candidate should have the ability to operate
independently with minimal supervision, with the ability to influence,
communicate and negotiate as well as facilitate capacity building and
training, and monitor budgets. Experience in ageing issues and awareness
of humanitarian core principles are highly desirable.
As this is an urgent requirement applications will be reviewed on a
daily basis and suitable candidates will be contacted prior to the
closing date.
Closing date: 25 October 2015.
Start date: ASAP
