Background
Compassion
International Tanzania is an Evangelical Christian holistic child
development ministry dedicated to the needy children of Tanzania.
Compassion's sponsorship programs help to release children from
spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty, with a view of
enabling them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.
Compassion International Tanzania is seeking to recruit and hire the
Tanzanian qualified professionals to fill the following position:-
Tours and Visits Specialist (Based in Arusha)
Job Summary
The
Tours & Visits Specialist creates a rich visit experience in the
country for key ministry partners (donors, speakers, artists, advocates,
sponsors, etc.) with the goal of building sponsor/donor understanding
and commitment to Compassion's work. Responsible for coordination with
Partner Countries (PACo) trip leader and Program teams to ensure each
trip meets intended goal(s).
Reporting Relationships
The Tours & Visits Specialist reports to the Tours & Visits' Supervisor, if applicable. If none, reports to the Program
Communications Manager.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Has
a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for
Jesus Christ, maintains {courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with
people within and outside of Compassion and faithfully upholds
Compassion's ministry in prayer.
Working
within one's influence, serves as an advocate for children around the
world who live in poverty and are not able to speak up for themselves.
This includes being informed about the issues of children and
influencing others to care about children in need. .
Implements Tours & Visits strategy with the Tours and Visits Supervisor and/or the Program Communications Manager.
Coordinates
visits and group trip processes and ensures a tailored experience for
PaCo visitors. Implements logistics and trip planning and ensures
overall alignment between cost and budget. Troubleshoots vendor/supplier
relationships as needed.
Delivers
a rich Compassion experience by understanding the target audience and
their needs. Serves as key liaison with PaCo trip representative.
Communicates with excellence about Compassion's program and about
important cultural and country-specific information. Ensures
experiential learning for visitors.
Responds,
and trains outside consultants as needed to respond, appropriately to
different types of audiences and group types (major donor,
artist/speaker, etc.); trip types (sponsor tour, STMT, etc.) and
different cultures.
Oversees
development of visitor-oriented content through strong understandinq of
Compassion global corporate knowledge. Effectively communicates about
poverty, Compassion's ministry model, ministry, partnerships, funding
opportunities and cultural nuances.
Monitors and responds to security alerts that affect incoming visits.
Collaborates with office staff on finance, program and communications related activities.
Maintains knowledge of government policies regarding entry and visas of foreigners.
Cross-trains
each Program Communications team member and/or contractors as a
generalist who can respond to many types of audiences, groups and visit
types.
Shares Program Communications team responsibilities as needed to balance coverage during peak-demand intervals
May include communications coverage or content transmission.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
,
Mature Christian person, based on evangelical Christian values; has a
personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is above reproach in
integrity and honesty,
Fluent in both written and spoken English, with excellent communications and interpersonal skills, especially across cultures,
Comfortable communicating in English in front of large groups,
Bachelor
Degree in hotel management/hospitality industry, marketing, public
relations, mass communications or other communications field.
Strong
customer service mindset and understanding of the sponsor/donor
communications needs-what moves them to deeper understanding of poverty
and deeper commitment to advocacy and action on behalf of poor children.
Public
relations experience or demonstrated aptitude for being Compassion's
front-line ambassador in the field. Demonstrates hospitality and care
for others.
Solid understanding of and sensitivity toward poverty, the child and the significance of the sponsor-child relationship.
Excellent
organizational and. project management skills, with ability to be
flexible and respond to changing variables (weather, road conditions,
visitor illness, etc), including high-stress situations.
Ability to make sound judgment with little supervision. Proven skills in negotiation.
Ability to travel on a regular basis (40-50%).
