INTRODUCTION
Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC) is a subsidiary company of The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) established in December 2013 and came into operation in July 2014 with a mandate to spearhead geothermal resources in Tanzania.

TGDC is mandated:

a)    To carry out geothermal exploration including geological, geochemistry, seismological, volcanological studies;
b)    To carry business In geothermal drilling for steam and hot water .: well testing and logging, reservoir assessment and management;
c)    To mobilize funds for geothermal development from various sources; .
d)    To promote geothermal business and developer of alternative uses of geothermal energy than electricity including watering cultures, therapeutic uses, geothermal bathing, drying of farm products and all industrial and non-industrial uses;

In order to reach Its goals, the Company intends to invest in its business, systems and human capital. TGDC now invites applicants who are self-motivated, pro- active, honest, hardworking and committed individuals to fill in the various positions mentioned hereunder:

Position:      Economist (1 Post) - Ref: TGDCIHRlO14
Reporting to:      Manager Planning & Projects
Directorate:      Business Development

POSITION OBJECTIVE
To provide specialist advice based on the application of economic theory and knowledge; carry out economic analysis/appraisals of geothermal projects, conduct power market studies; undertake external business scanning, analysis forecasts of economic trends.evaluation and based on the implications of the findings make recommendations on the ways and strategies to improve company business and investments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Participate in the development of TGOC's business strategy, action plans, and budget:
2.    Lead economic data collection, analysis, modeling, interpretation, and monitoring and evaluation of TGDC's business and investment undertakings; ,
3.    Provide economic and business solutions: and review existing and develop new geothermal business models based on forecast economic behavior and patterns for effective strategic business preparedness;
4.    Participate in the mobilization of financial resources to meet TGDC's development programs;
5.    Advice on matters pertaining to financial and economic feasibility, investments and
tariff modeling as well as business with Independent Power Producers .
(IPPs) and public stakeholders on steam and power purchase agreements;
6.    Collect and monitor economic related data, including cost of equipment, construction
, fuel and labor for use in various power studies;
7.    Compile data related to energy development generation, sales, trends to be used in
planning and forecasting the future of the geothermal industry;
8.    Lead preparation of departmental budget process;
9.    Preparation of Quarterly, Annual progress reports on funding made by the Government rural electrification;
10.    To participate in the preparation of the Company Business plans and review of action plans versus set targets "pd assist in defining its mission and Objectives:
11.    Lead the benchmarking of company performance with best performers in the industry to ensure the company excels at all times.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•    Undergraduate degree in Economics,
•    Master's degree either in Economics and/or Business Administration related field is an added advantage.
•    1-2 years of professional working experience.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
•    Well-developed: research skills including the ability to realize relevant data to make sound judgments;- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.to convey complex ideas to people with varying levels of economic knowledge and expertise:
•    The ability to build productive working relationships and work within a team; 
•    Accuracy and attention to detail:
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
•    Pro-active and capable of delivering excellent results while working under pressure with tight deadlines.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Permanent & Pensionable Including six months of probation.

REMUNERATION
